3. Malleable Intelligence
Malleable Intelligence means that intelligence is malleable or it can be changed. People are not born "smart" or "dumb." Think about it... we all started off as infants who knew nothing about the world. As we explored, observed and interacted with the world we learned. We still have that ability to learn anything and "grow" our brain. However, if you stop interacting with certain parts of the world you wont learn anything about it. For example, if you spend all your time playing video games you wont become good at basketball; or if you only watch TV and never read, reading will become difficult.
A few things that we all should know about our brain is that:
A. It is made up of neurons or nerves that communicate with each other.
B. When we learn a new skill the neurons grow and connect to each other.
C. When we give up those neurons give up to. When we keep on trying eventually that connection is made and we learn!
D. If you don't practice or revisit something you have learned the connections will be recycled and you will "forget."
Your tasks are listed below:
1. Watch the two Prezi on Malleable Intelligence. (Links listed below) a. Malleable Intelligence b. Grow Your Intelligence 2. With a partner read "Grow Your Intelligence" (Please read out loud) You may download the article and print it out, or read it on the site here. 3. Answer the questions below. You may work together to answer the questions but you must each submit your own answers. |
