Learning Goal: You can state the role of each part of a cell's structure.
Working Goals
Week of 9/23
Go to "Healthy From the Inside Out">> "Cell Structure" 4. Cells watch the "The Cell Basics" video and take survey. ( Due 9/25) 5. Complete cell organelle foldable in notebook. ( Due 9/25) 6. Come use a microscope and sketch a cell in workshop. (AM workshop; Due 9/27) |
Cell theory states that all living things are made up of units called cells.
The smallest living things are made up of only ONE cell. Living things that only have one cell are called unicellular organisms. Microorganisms are living things that may be made up of a one or many cells but are so small that we can only see them with the help of a microscope. On the other hand, some living things are made up many, many, many cells. These organisms are called multicellular organisms. Cells are made up of smaller parts called organelles. In Latin, organelle means "tiny organs." Each organelle has a specific structure and function. |
Cell Basics
Watch the video below "The Cell Basics" and watch it as many times as you need to in order to learn the cell organelles. Then take the Cell Basic
For each organelle you need to know:
1. What the organelle looks like (its structure).
2. What the organelle does (its function).
For each organelle you need to know:
1. What the organelle looks like (its structure).
2. What the organelle does (its function).
These two videos are required. The other videos are STRONGLY recommended (especially Bill Nye)
